Arte y Cine: Peter Greenaway y Hendrick Goltzius

Peter Greenaway es un artista polifacético: director de cine, escritor y pintor, también ha escrito óperas y ha colaborado con compositores de música. Greenaway nació en Gales y se formó como pintor. En 1966 empezó a experimentar con el cine. Desde entonces, ha dirigido 15 películas y más de 40 cortometrajes, documentales y series de televisión. Entre sus películas más reconocidas encontramos: The Falls, The Draughtsman’s Contract, The Belly of an Architect, The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her lover, The Pillow Book o The Tulse Luper Suitcases. Actualmente, vive en Ámsterdam y ha seguido haciendo cine y organizando exposiciones e instalaciones.



El pintor y cineasta británico Peter Greenaway en preparativos para filmar un episodio de la vida del maestro del cine mudo Sergei Eisenstein  durante 1930, por filmar “¡Que viva Mexico!”.Iinforma el periódico mexicano Zona Franca, la razón por la que quiero hacer este film es que soy desde hace mucho, mucho tiempo, un admirador de Eisenstein. En cierto sentido, ahora se da la oportunidad de brindarle una especie de homenaje”, dijo el director. El título provisional del proyecto es “Eisenstein in Guanajuato” y se filmará entre México y San Petersburgo a finales de este año.

Sergei Mijáilovich Eisenstein, llegó a México en diciembre de 1930, a filmar una película financiada por Estados Unidos, que quedó inconclusa. Después de que la Paramount le rescindiera su contrato de filmación, y no queriendo regresar a la Unión Soviética sin una película, logró un nuevo productor, Upton Sinclair, gracias a la ayuda de Charles Chaplin. Así nació “¡Que viva México!”. La idea de Eisenstein era dividir la cinta en cuatro episodios (Sandunga, Maguey, Fiesta y Soldadera) con un prólogo y un epílogo. Del proyecto, filmado a lo largo de 1931, sólo faltó el rodaje de Soldadera y partes de Fiesta, a causa de desavenencias con Sinclair y la consecuente falta de financiación. El productor se quedó con todo el material y las ediciones del mismo se hicieron sin la dirección de Eisenstein.



Peter Greenaway estrenó en 2012: Goltzius and the Pelican Company, segundo episodio de la serie dedicada a los maestros alemanes, tras Nightwatching, donde evidenciaba al menos 50 claves de una conspiración criminal oculta en La Ronda De Noche de Rembrandt.

Hendrick Goltzius

Cuando era niño, Hendrick Goltz (luego latinizaría su apellido como Goltzius) sufrió una grave quemadura en su mano derecha, que le causó secuelas permanentes. La mano quedó deforme e incapacitada para realizar sus funciones con normalidad. Sin embargo, a pesar de su minusvalía Goltzius llegaría a ser uno de los grabadores y pintores más importantes de su época.
